Amos 7:14 God Will Use Anyone

Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah: “I was no prophet, nor was I a son of a prophet, but was a sheepbreeder and a tender of sycamore fruit. Amos 7:14

People often feel that they are either overqualified or under qualified for a position. They look at themselves and choose whether they want a position or not. If they do not feel as they are fit perfectly for the position, they will ignore it and reject taking it. For most positions, this is a good way to choose whether to take it on or not.

Amos tells Amaziah, after being told not to prophesy, that he was no prophet, but was just a sheepherder and gardener of sycamore fruit when God chose Him.

When a person chooses a position for oneself, that person will often feel that one is more than qualified for it. One will look at the schooling and experience to determine how qualified one is. Going around that person will let everyone know of the qualifications one has.

People will often try to get God to give them some special position based off of their own personal qualifications.

God does not always look at a person’s own abilities, but at the person’s willingness to do His command. When God chooses a person to do His work, He will give the person the needed abilities.

Those who are qualified in the world’s eyes, will often get in the way of doing what God wants. Pride will rise up in the heart of the person because it was self that did the job, not God.

Believers need to be open and willing to do what God desires, without fear. Just as Amos was just a shepherd and farmer, yet God used Him, believers can be nobodies that God uses to do great things.

You may have some great schooling or training in some area of your life. Or you may be like many who do not have any specialty in your life. Either way God can use you to build His kingdom and be His hands, feet and voice on the earth.

Make yourself available to do the work God has for you and that needs to be done. He may call you to be a prophet to the nations or He may just call you to be a witness to a local neighbor. Either way, be available and useable by God. He can use you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will use you to touch the nations; that you will be available to be used by God; and that God will give you the needed abilities to complete the work He has for you.
