My God will cast them away, because they did not obey Him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations. Hosea 9:17
When something becomes worthless or useless people will cast it away, although there are some people who continue to hold on and hoard junk. There is no reason to keep something that has no value or that will keep costing more and more in order to keep it. Things that are of value and useful are kept and new things are purchased to replace things that are tossed out or sold.
Hosea says that God will cast out the people of Israel among the other nations because they chose not to obey Him.
People will often continue to disobey laws when they do not get caught doing wrong. Drivers will tend to speed, taking the chance of not getting caught, when they do not see a policeman in the area. They feel that they are free to be able to break the law since there is no one there to stop them.
Since God is invisible and not physically seen, people feel that they can break His commands and get by with it. The world does not know God, so they automatically live in sin, since they have not been told to stop breaking His law.
Believers, on the other hand, have been commanded by God to obey Him. Yet, many believers choose to step into sin and disobey His commands on a regular basis. This is more than slipping up but is done intentionally. They feel that God does not see it and will not do anything about it.
God may not do anything in the moment, but when that person dies it may be that God casts them out into outer darkness for not obeying His commands. Every believer needs to repent and turn from sin and obey God, not taking a chance on getting cast away.
You toss out things that are of no value any longer. Examine your life and see if you have sin, that is of no value, and cast it out. Turn from sin and obey all of God’s commands. Live in such a way that God will be able to say that you have been a good and faithful servant in the end.
Do not give God a reason to have to cast you out because you did not obey Him.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal sin in your life; that you will obey God in every area of your life; and that God will not have to toss you out due to sin.
