Daniel 6:3 Uniquely Set Apart

Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. Daniel 6:3

Most people like to be thought of as better and greater than others, yet very few people are set apart as above others. The majority of people tend to be just like those around them and are unwilling to do what it takes to be better and different, though it is often their desire. Only a few will do what it takes to be among the best.

Daniel records that he had made himself different and above those around him, so that King Darius thought about putting him over the entire realm.

Those who are in authority keep an eye out for workers under them who are set apart and different from the crowd. These are the ones who have a chance at being good leaders when they are doing above and beyond what is expected of them.

Most people are just happy with the status quo, not wanting to do anything extra or go against the normal flow. Following everyone will often include cheating, lying, stealing, disloyalty and more. Acting in these ways are often subtle but are there.

Believers are to be set apart as different. They do not follow the ways of the world in any area of life. As a result, they will always be honest, loyal, hardworking, trustworthy, cheerful, peaceful and more. In other words, believers are to be set apart as holy and righteous before God and man. They will have an excellent spirit in them as Daniel did.

No matter what area of life one is in, the believer must examine self to determine if one is set apart as holy unto God.

Regardless of what work you do or where you live, you have a duty to God to be your best. Being your best is found only in living for God in every area of your life. You are to be set apart as holy and righteous. As you live this way, the world will see. At times this may mean that the world will lift you up because of your honesty, truthfulness and character, even when they are not believers.

Ask yourself if the world can see you as one of an excellent spirit or not.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will guide you in having an excellent spirit about you; that the world will see you as set apart from all others; and that you will live in every area of your life for God.
