Ezekiel 37:26 An Everlasting Covenant

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forever. Ezekiel 37:26

Covenants or contracts are made all the time by people, businesses and nations. They are always a set of agreements on what can or cannot be done and consequences of either type of action by either party. Normally most covenants are made with a start and an end time agreement. Very rarely are covenants without any time of end to restate the covenant or let it go.

Ezekiel records God stating that He will make a covenant of peace with Israel forever to establish them and multiply them and put His sanctuary in their midst. This was given while they were in captivity.

Every person signs temporary agreements on a regular basis. It can be with the phone company, rental company, a bank, a credit card, the workplace, or some other agreement. It is done to agree to abide by certain rules for both groups.

God desires to make an agreement between every person, not just Israel, just as businesses do. His agreement is for salvation that will last for eternity.

Although He writes up the covenant contract, He is the one that makes the payment for it. Jesus died on the cross to remove all sin for all time. All one has to do is repent of all sins and believe that Jesus died and rose again to take away those sins.

At that moment, God agrees to remove those sins and give the new believer a new heart and eternal life. The believer than can live the holy and righteous life God has set up and given. The believer becomes a new sanctuary or temple for God to dwell in for all eternity.

Just as you have signed a contract with someone or some business at some point in your life, God is waiting to sign a contract with you. Without Jesus, Satan has authority over you. From the moment of your first sin, you signed a covenant with Satan that leads to death. Jesus can break that covenant and give you a new one that gives you eternal life.

Take time to repent of your sins and begin to believe in Jesus. Give your life to God so that He can give you forgiveness and eternal life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the peace God wants to have with you; that you will be in a covenant with God; and that you will be God’s temple for Him to dwell in for all eternity.
