“I have given him the land of Egypt for his labor, because they have worked for Me”, says the Lord God. Ezekiel 29:20
Businesses all over the world have workers that work for them. As a result of a person’s work, the business owners will pay the worker a set amount of wages. Occasionally many businesses will also give bonus pay for the work being done or for extra quality of work. Along with the pay, sometimes the worker may be given a pay raise or a promotion of position. For quality work, there is always a benefit.
Ezekiel records God saying that because Nebuchadnezzar obeyed God and worked for Him, he would be given the land of Egypt.
Every worker expects to get paid a fair wage for the work that has been done. If the pay is not considered good enough, many will quit and find somewhere else to work.
Getting paid for work, does not always mean getting paid in cash. Sometimes it is paid in other ways, such as food, housing, clothing or other needed physical things. For many years people would barter work for things that they would need or could use. In today’s society, most people will only work for money.
As a result of today’s thinking, many people do not like to work for God. God usually does not pay a person with physical money. He finds other things to bless a person with, just as He did with Nebuchadnezzar.
The three things most people see as their needs are food, clothing and shelter. God provides these, but does not stop there. He blesses far and above physical things. Peace, joy, contentment, mercy, grace, relationship, love, among many other non-physical things are given as a result of obedience. The greatest things given are forgiveness and eternal life.
Believers need to work for God and see what He will bless them with.
As you work at some job, you will be paid according to your work.
As you do a work for God, He will not ignore your work being done. God is a generous God and is more than willing to give to you many blessings for your work. You will never find yourself lacking anything you need as you trust God and obey Him in doing the work He has called you to do from day to day.
What can God give you today?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the blessings of God; that you will do the work God has called you to do; and that you will see what God is giving you each day.
