Will you still say before him who slays you, ‘I am a god’? But you shall be a man, and not a god, in the hand of him who slays you. Ezekiel 28:9
Actors are someone who act in a play or movie portraying someone that they are not. They know that the character that they are playing is not real. At the end of the acting, they will leave and go home as themselves, not something they are not. People, however, often act as something that they are not in order to think they are better than what they really are.
Ezekiel records God speaking against the city of Tyre. He asks if they will still say that they are a god as one slays them. God tells them that they are just a man and not a god in the hand of the one that slays them.
Many people feel that they are the god of their lives, that they are in complete control of everything in their life. Scientists and doctors have come to believe that they are also gods in this world, believing that they can overcome any sickness or change anything they desire.
People live their lives in any way they want. They can choose and change their gender as they wish. Removal of innocent life is acceptable, with no consequences. Ignoring God’s commands is promoted. They are their own gods.
In the church, there are some who believe they are gods also. They ignore God’s commands and word, changing what He says. In the end, God will judge them and slay them if they do not repent.
Believers are to be set a part, different from the world. They know that they are not God or any god, but fully trust and rely upon God for everything.
As you go through life, it is easy at times to think that you are in control of everything in your life. When that occurs, you may begin to ignore God and put Him on the side, placing yourself upon the throne that He belongs on, making yourself a god.
In order to keep that from happening, always keep your focus upon Him. Do what He says and nothing else. Allow God to be the only God in your life. Keep yourself off of His throne that He belongs on and be the man or woman God has created you to be and nothing else.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know that He alone is God; that you will not try to be a god but allow God to be God; and that God will not have to strike you for any sin.
