Ezekiel 16:62-63 God’s Covenant Removes Pride

“And I will establish My covenant with you. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, that you may remember and be ashamed, and never open your mouth anymore because of your shame, when I provide you an atonement for all you have done,” says the Lord God. Ezekiel 16:62-63

When a person does everything for self and by self, there is always a sense of pride. People take extreme pride in what they can do, whether what is done is good or bad. The world does not have a true sense of what is good and what is bad.

Ezekiel records God saying that He will establish His covenant with the people and provide atonement for their sins. Then they will be ashamed and silent for what they have done and what God has done for them.

Without a true knowledge of what is right and wrong, a person does wrong without realizing it is wrong. There is a level of great pride in what a person is able to do, even though it is wrong.

The world lives in sin and takes great pride in doing what is wrong in the eyes of God. Sin is promoted as good and a right for people to do. However, all that sin does is bring about a death that no person can ever overcome or purchase one’s way out of.

God, in His infinite and perfect love, has chosen to make a covenant with anyone who chooses to agree to it. In this covenant God makes atonement, pays for that sin, so that every person can have life. This is not something a person can do or earn, it is a gift from God.

When a person enters this covenant, that person will be ashamed of all past sin. That person will also recognize God’s great love and mercy in providing atonement for sin and eternal life.

You, like every other person on the planet, has chosen to sin against God at some point in your life. There was some pride in what you had done, even though it was wrong and only brought about death in the end.

God is right there ready to make a covenant with you and to remove all of your sins. If you have not done so yet, repent of your sins and enter that covenant with God. Allow God to remove your sin and pride and make you a new creation in Christ Jesus.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will recognize your sin against God; that you will enter the covenant with God; that you will know the atonement God has for you; and that you will allow God to remove all pride in your life.
