Ezekiel 11:8 Do You Fear The Sword?

“You have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you,” says the Lord God. Ezekiel 11:8

Swords were the common weapons of the past. In today’s society most people do not worry about someone coming against them with a sword. Instead of swords, people fear guns and getting shot or killed by someone with a gun. As a result, people desire many laws against guns and want extra security everywhere they go. Houses are armed with lots of security systems to prevent anyone from harming them.

Ezekiel records God saying to the Israelites that because they feared the sword, He would bring a sword upon them.

Swords and guns are not the only thing people fear in today’s society. Fear of many different things take over the mind of people causing them to not do what should be done.

While some fear some things that are physical, nearly everyone has fears of things that are not physical. One of the greatest fears is that of rejection. No one wants to stand out as different from the crowd, so they go along with whatever the crowd is saying or doing.

Many believers have chosen to fear the world more than they fear God. He has called them to be a witness in some way, and people fear rejection, so they don’t say or do anything for God. When a believer chooses to fear man and not do what God has called the person to do, then God will reject that person in the end.

Instead of fearing man or being ashamed of God, believers need to stand in the strength and power of God. One must do what God has called one to do, rejecting the fear of the sword of man. All the sword can do is hurt for a moment, in the end one has eternal life.

There will be times in which God has called you to do something that the world may reject or ridicule you for doing. The world may even threaten your life. Do not fear the little that the world can do to you, but put your trust in God and fear Him alone. God can help you make it through the pain that the world may inflict on you as you continue the journey He has you on to eternal life. Do not fear the temporary sword of the world as you trust in God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will help you to not fear the swords of the world; that God will fill you with His presence and strength; and that you will see victory in Christ Jesus in your life.
