Yet I will leave a remnant, so that you may have some who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the countries. Ezekiel 6:8
In ancient times it was common that when a nation took over another nation, they would not leave any remnants behind. The nation would be completely destroyed so that they could not rise up again. It would leave the people without hope of a future if they were overrun by another nation.
Ezekiel records God saying that as He is destroying Israel due to their sin against Him, He will leave a remnant behind, escaping the sword and death.
Throughout the Old Testament as God told the Israelites to take over other nations, He would tell them to completely destroy everyone. This was to prevent the sin of those nations to be allowed into the nation of Israel.
God still uses one nation to knock down another nation when they have chosen to reject Him and His ways. Even as He knocks down a nation, God leaves a remnant of people behind who follow Him and obey His commands. These are the people who are to be a witness of who He is and to rebuild a nation that will follow Him.
As the world is turning more and more to sinful ways, believers need to take a stronger stand for God in rejecting sin. There is coming a day in which God will destroy all the nations of the earth. In this process, there will be a group of people who will remnant, left behind as His witness and those saved from the destruction.
Every believer needs to make a choice to follow God and be a part of the remnant that will be saved from God’s coming judgement upon the world.
As a believer you can look around you and see the sin rising in acceptance. Because of His holiness, God has to judge the nations for their sins. Do not allow yourself to be caught up in the sinful ways of those around you. Make the choice to make God your one and only king and obey all of His commands. As you do this, you will not fall under God’s judgement and punishment for sin. You will be a part of the remnant who are saved from His destruction.
Will you be caught up in His judgement?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will give you strength to flee the sin of the nations; that you will be a witness of who God is; and that God will save you from all coming judgement.

Amen! By God’s grace we can choose to reject sin and follow Him.
Amen on that!
