And He said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.” So I ate, and it was in my mouth like honey in sweetness. Ezekiel 3:3
Eating some foods are sweet and others are not. Candy and deserts are often sweet and taste great to most people. Eating something that tastes good is the desire that most people have. Nobody really wants to taste anything that tastes horrible, although people differ in what tastes good and bad.
Ezekiel records how God had given him a scroll and told him to eat it. Ezekiel ate the scroll, and it tasted sweet like honey.
Hearing something from someone else will sometimes be refreshing. Other times what is said is painful. Sometimes it can be painful because what was said was said in a hurtful, mean way. Other times it can be painful because it was something that was needed to be said to bring about a difficult change.
Studies have shown that very few people read the bible on a regular daily basis. Some try to read it and get bored with it, not understanding it. Others read it and get angry because it speaks against their lifestyle or personal beliefs.
Those who read God’s word and have allowed the Holy Spirit to touch their hearts, realize how sweet it is. Instead of just seeing the harsh judgements of God, they see God’s immense love, grace and mercy. They see God striving to save every person and give them a full abundant life that will last for eternity. They see God’s willingness to forgive and build a person up, rather than tear one down.
Every believer needs to take and eat of God’s word. Read it, study it, memorize it and make it a part of one’s life.
Like most people, you desire to eat what tastes good and usually is good for you. The physical food you eat will only last for a moment and only does a little good. The food God has for you, His word, is perfectly good for you. Take in His word and allow it to change you.
Allow God’s word to show you where you are failing and need to grow and allow it to show you where you have grown. Also allow it to show you what God has in store for you when you believe His word. God’s word will then be sweet as honey.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will read, study and memorize God’s word daily; that you will know how sweet and wonderful God’s word is; and that you will grow in the Lord from eating His word.

You made many great points Tom. God’s Word is living and active. Like you mentioned, it can impact us in many ways. It encourages us but also convicts us. It’s up to us to receive what God wants to offer us through His Word. Thank you for the prayer! 🙏🏿
You are welcome. It is amazing how God can work in our lives in different ways to give us what we need as long as we are willing to read it and heed it. Have a blessed day in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
