Jeremiah 49:7 Has Wisdom Vanished?

Against Edom. Thus says the Lord of hosts: Is wisdom no more in Teman? Has counsel perished from the prudent? Has their wisdom vanished? Jeremiah 49:7

Wisdom is knowing how to properly use the information and knowledge that one has attained. Over the centuries there have been some men seen as ones of great wisdom. Some have been quoted for several thousand years. Thousands of books have been written telling people how to handle or deal with nearly every situation one finds oneself in this life. Yet, most of that ‘wisdom’ is not using knowledge correctly.

Jeremiah quotes God with a judgement against Edom. God asks if there is wisdom in Teman, or if the counsel has perished.

In today’s society there are many who are considered wise in what they say or do. The world follows what they say. Although many claim to be wise, wisdom is missing in many nations, including America.

Technology has advanced so far for many things able to be done that were nearly unimaginable several decades ago. People are told that they can change their gender if so wished and that it is good to do. Claims are made that a woman can murder a child for nearly any and all reasons. Belief that there are hundreds of different ways to get into heaven.

Sadly, many churches have also bought into this false wisdom of the world. Wisdom has disappeared in many churches. God’s word is ignored in favor of self-satisfaction.

Instead of buying into the wisdom of this world, believers need to turn to God and His word. The wisdom found in the bible has withstood the test of time as being correct and accurate. God desires to have every person have a true and abundant life in this world and in heaven in the future. He will give the best wisdom on gaining that life.

You have seen or heard different people say things that sound wise. Before believing it to be truly wise, take time to check it against God’s word and His wisdom. Toss out the false wisdom of this world. Hold on to God’s wisdom that will give you eternal life. God’s wisdom is above our comprehension and understanding, but by His Holy Spirit He will guide and direct you. Do not let His wisdom perish and disappear from your life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s wisdom; that God will reveal His wisdom to you; and that God will open your eyes to the false wisdom of this fallen world.
