You shall drink the milk of the Gentiles, and milk the breasts of kings; you shall know that I, the Lord, am your Savior and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. Isaiah 60:16
In times of great disaster or when one is in a major accident, there is usually someone that comes along to help the person. The helping person is their savior in that situation. People know who has helped them and brought them out of their danger. Emergency medical teams are most often those who do the saving in physical dangers and are given the due credit for it.
Isaiah, again, quotes God is saying that the Israelites will drink milk from the Gentiles and their kings and will know that the Lord is their Savior and Redeemer.
Israel had been brought into captivity for hundreds of years under the Gentile kings and rulers. They were unable to break out from under the Gentile rule on their own, it could only happen by the hand and power of God.
Although most people are not under full physical captivity by a ruler, people are held captive by sin. As a result, they cannot but help to sin, keeping a death sentence upon their head. There is nothing they can do to stop it on their own.
Jesus has provided a way to get out from under that death sentence. His death upon the cross and resurrection has provided a way for one’s sins to be removed forever, removing the death sentence upon the head. God has redeemed the person back and given new life through the work of Jesus.
This can only occur when one chooses to repent of all sin and believe in Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Savior. One begins to know that it is only Jesus Christ who saves, not other people, jobs, social status, money or anything else.
You had a death sentence upon your head and were captive to sin from the moment you first sinned against God. There was nothing you could do to redeem yourself or save yourself from the judgement upon you.
Choosing to repent of those sins and believe in Jesus has allowed Jesus to redeem you and become your Savior. He is able to pull you out of a life of sin and give you eternal life. No other person or god can do that.
Is Jesus your Savior and Redeemer?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will repent of your sins before God; that you will put your trust in the work of Jesus for your life; and that you will know you will have eternal life through Jesus Christ.
