Isaiah 56:7 Be A House Of Prayer

Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations. Isaiah 56:7

Buildings are made all over the world usually with a very specific purpose. It may be a business, a library, a museum, or some other building, but each one is known for something that one can expect to find in it. One would never expect to walk into a building and find out that it is not what it is described to be.

Isaiah quotes God saying that He would even bring the foreigner to His holy mountain and make them joyful in His house of prayer as He accepts their offerings and sacrifices. This is done because His house would be called a house of prayer.

Just as buildings are often described to be a certain way or for a certain purpose, people are also often described as having a certain purpose. Most often this description is described as according to their job, social status or family status. The world sees these things as important and much needed.

Every person who has chosen to follow Jesus begins to have some new descriptions as to who they are. It begins with the person being described as a believer or follower of Jesus. Later Paul describes the believer as the temple of God or the house of God, where God dwells.

Since the believer is to be the house of God, one must also be His house of prayer. Believers need to focus a large part of their lives in prayer, talking and listening to God. This is done for self and for the nations. Through prayer God moves and does everything.

You have various titles by which you are known that describe a little of who you are in the various positions you carry in this life. As a believer you need to be known as one who prays. Your time of prayer can be done in secret and in public, but everyone can know and see that you spend time in prayer for self and for the nations. Find the joy in spending time talking and listening to God on a regular basis. Know that God will accept your offerings and sacrifices of prayer.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will find joy in praying to God; that you will pray for the nations; that God will call you a house of prayer; and that you will know God hears your prayers.
