For the Lord God will help Me; therefore I will not be dismayed; therefore I have set My face like a flint, and I know that I will not be ashamed. Isaiah 50:7
Feeling shame is a common feeling among people. Often people feel shame when they do not measure up to the same level as others around them appear to be. Many will look down on a person because of one’s circumstances causing that one to feel shame. The world is quick to ridicule and persecute a person for what one believes bringing on shame into one’s life.
As Isaiah prophesies of Jesus, he quotes Jesus as saying that God would help Him, so He will not be disgraced during persecution and that He has set His face like flint so that He would not be ashamed.
The world loves to ridicule and persecute believers. They try to make a believer feel ashamed for following God and His ‘archaic’ ways of living that go against modern ways of living alive and free.
Over the years there have been many believers who begin to feel ashamed for what they believe in. They choose to be silent and not talk about their faith in Jesus in the open for all to hear. Instead of standing strong for God, they bend and give in to the pressure of the world, feeling disgraced and ashamed of Jesus and His ways of living.
Flint is a very hard rock that will not give into pressure and can take the strikes and blows without breaking. When Jesus walked on the earth and was spit upon, ridiculed and persecuted, He set His face like flint to not be ashamed of His Father.
True believers will live like Jesus and set their hearts and face like flint and never be ashamed of Jesus or their walk with Him.
As a believer, you are to live your life in a way that is different than that of the world. In doing so, many will try to ridicule you and may even persecute you for what you believe and how you live. Do not allow their pressure to cause you to be ashamed of Christ but set your life as flint and be determined to continue to live for Christ. God will be there to help you and give you the needed strength to live for Him.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God is there to help you; that you will never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ; and that your life will be one like flint made strong by God to live for Him.
