Isaiah 11:3 What Do You Delight In?

His delight is in the fear of the Lord, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears; Isaiah 11:3

Every person has something that they find delight or joy in. What is found delight in can be very different from person to person. One can find delight in some hobby, while another finds delight in children. This delight is what makes a person happy, have focus and purpose. Everything centers around that delight and often there is no price too high to pay to have that delight available.

Isaiah, in describing Jesus, says that His delight in the fear of God and that He will not judge by what He sees or hears.

The world loves to find pleasure for one’s own self. No one wants to be sad or depressed in any way but wants joy and happiness all the time. In order to find that delight, most people look for things that are temporary and will only give delight for a short amount of time. When trouble comes, that delight usually leaves.

Rather than look for delight in the temporary, fleeting things of this world, believers should be looking for their delight in God. God is ready and willing to guide a person in how to best live one’s life upon this planet in every situation, both good and bad.

In order to be led by God, one must have a fear of Him. In other words, one must be willing to respect God and His commands, no matter how strange or crazy they may appear to be. His commands must take priority over everything else in this world.

When this is done, one will judge correctly by the Holy Spirit, not flesh of eyes or ears and there will always be delight.

You have certain things in your life that you find delight in. They bring you joy and happiness for a time. While these things may be good, your greatest delight should be in the fear of God. Put God first and foremost in your life. Whatever God commands, be willing to do with joy, knowing that He loves you and cares for you more than anyone or anything on this earth could ever love and care for you. Find delight in being led by God’s Holy Spirit throughout your life in every situation.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will find great delight in the fear of God; that you will be led by the Holy Spirit; and that you will only judge by His Holy Spirit’s guidance.
