How fair and how pleasant you are, o love, with your delights! Song of Solomon 7:6
People are always looking for love and to be loved. When they find someone that they love, they see that person differently than anyone else. Often, at the beginning, they will see that person as attractive or beautiful with no flaws. Others may look at the person and wonder why or how someone else could fall in love with that person. They don’t see the same beauty or attractiveness since there is no real love for that person.
The lover, Solomon writes about, sees the Shulamite woman as fair and pleasant and is a delight.
For many in this world, true love appears to be just out of reach. People fall in love with someone, then they begin to see the flaws and faults, so they choose to turn away and look for that perfect love somewhere else. The world is quick to walk into and out of love relationships because they only look at the surface.
Many people project this same mindset of love onto God. Since there are problems and challenges in one’s life, many think that God does not really love them. They will also see all their own faults and believe that God could never really, truly love them as they are.
God takes delight in His creation and loves every person with a deep love that has no end. He is willing to sacrifice anything and everything to have that relationship. This is shown in His sacrifice of Jesus on the cross to have that relationship.
His love for those who follow Him goes deep, even in spite of faults and failures in their lives. When He looks at the believer, He sees Jesus and His righteousness and knows that one is being made whole.
When you look at own self and see your faults and failures, you may wonder if or how God could ever love you. He does love you and that was proven with sending His Son Jesus to the cross for you. God takes great delight in you and wants to spend time with you. He sees you as forgiven and perfect in Christ Jesus.
Do not allow yourself to be discouraged and believe the lie that God does not love you when you fail. Repent and turn back to His great love. You are loved by God.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s love for you; that you will know God wants to be with you; and that you will trust in Christ’s work on the cross to perfect you and make you whole.
