Though the Lord is on high, yet He regards the lowly; but the proud He knows from afar. Psalm 138:6
It is very common for people in very high positions to not see those who are in low or humble positions. They are busy working deals with other people of high position. Pride will often keep them from being willing to associate with someone of a very low and humble spot in life. People do not want to be brought down to a lower level in life and so keep their distance.
David points out that although God is in a very high position, He takes note of those who are humble, but those who are proud, He looks at from a long way off.
People of low and humble positions have a difficult time to get the attention of those in high level positions. They are not seen as worth the time and cannot bring anything of physical value to the table of a relationship.
The pride of the world destroys many relationships and separates people.
God, who is the Creator of the universe and is in absolute complete control of all things, sees all people. He has regard or listens to those who are lowly or humble in their lives despite His extremely high position. Those who are lowly and humble recognize where their source of help and strength come from. They allow God to be on the throne of their lives.
At the same time, God keeps His distance from those who are proud. Those who are proud have no room for God in their lives, it is all about self, putting themselves on the throne, rather than God.
Believers need to keep themselves humble before God and then know that God is near them and hears them.
You may or may not be in some high position, but you do have some people who are much higher than you. In those situations, you also recognize how difficult it is to get the attention of some in high position. Take yourself and others off the throne of your life and allow God to be on that throne. Then know His presence in your life as you take on a humble position before Him. Keep the sin of pride out of your life to allow God to be near you.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will keep yourself humble before God; that you will know that God sees and hears you; and that God will help you remove all pride in your life as you put Him on the throne of your heart.
