Psalm 103:2 Praise And Don’t Forget

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; Psalm 103:2

Usually there are benefits to knowing someone, working a certain job, being a member of a club, living in a certain place or some other provider of a benefit. These benefits may be special discounts, safer community, one on one attention or something else. Often benefits become so commonplace that people will forget about the benefits or the value of those benefits. Many do not realize the challenges that would really occur without some of those benefits and they are not grateful for them.

David tells himself to bless God and not to forget all of His benefits.

Going through life, things can become so common and routine that a person does not always recognize the value of what one has.

The world loves to have benefits with nearly everything that one has or does. Salesmen always like to point out the benefits of what they are selling to get a person to purchase the item. While all of these benefits may be good, they are also temporary, appealing to selfish desires.

Believers also have many benefits in God that are also often forgotten. Some of the benefits of believing in God are: God is always there; God provides for every need; He forgives and removes all sin; abundant life is given; there is hope of eternal life after physical death; there is times of healing; there is peace; He provides comfort and guidance; and the list can go on forever. These are things the world cannot have nor provide.

Unless one takes time to reflect and remember what benefits God provides, they can be forgotten. One can become no longer truly grateful for what God provides. It can cause one to be prideful and not praise God for what He is giving.

Each and every day God is providing many different things for you, some physical, some spiritual. All it takes is being willing to open your spiritual eyes to see what benefits God is providing for you each and every day. Do not allow these benefits to become so commonplace that you forget about them. Remember all the many benefits of God and then bless the Lord. Give Him praise for who He is, what He is doing and what He is providing you in your life each and every day.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will see the benefits God gives you; that you will be grateful for what God provides; and that you will bless God with all of your life.
