I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. Psalm 40:1
Patience is something that is not often seen in most people. Everyone wants everything right immediately. No matter how fast something is, it needs to be faster, from traffic to grocery lines to computers to the end of the workday and much more. With wanting things faster and faster, people get impatient and irritable at not getting their desires fast enough. Slowing down and waiting is not in the mindset of most people because they just want to do more and more and are running out of time.
David had called out to God and then waited patiently for Him to hear his cry and answer.
People like to be in control and so to wait patiently for someone else means that the person is not in control but the one being waited on is. This goes against the mindset and desires of most people.
Everyone who has a belief in God has times in which one calls out to God for some answer to some difficulty. Once in a while God answers immediately, but often God waits to give a full answer. As one is waiting, it may feel as if there is some great disaster about to happen or the world is coming to an end, and there is nothing the person can do about it.
People will get impatient with God wanting the answer right now.
One needs to remember that God hears immediately, but also waits for the perfect time to bring about the answer in His great wisdom and love. The best time is not always when the believer wants it, but when God wants it. Instead of fretting or getting angry, one must wait patiently for God to answer in His way and time.
There are probably prayers you have been praying that are on your heart that you really wanted answered. It may seem as if God is ignoring you by not answering right now. Do not give up hope but continue to wait patiently for God to answer. At the perfect time and in the perfect way God will answer your prayer and meet your need if you continue to trust in Him. God is the one in control, not you, so wait patiently for the best answer to come. God will answer you, if you wait patiently.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek God for all of your needs; that you will wait patiently for God’s perfect answer; that you will see God’s answer in His time and way; and that you will trust God’s timing.
