Job 38:1-2 Words Without Knowledge

Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Job 38:1-2

During football season there are a lot of people who are considered to be arm-chair coaches/quarterbacks. As they watch the game, they apparently know what should have been done to make the game better or to win the game. While some may have some insight, the majority of people doing this have no real knowledge of the game or the situation to make those choices, yet they still want to make their opinion known.

After Job and his friends speaks for a time, God speaks up. He asks who is darkening His counsel with words without knowledge.

Standing on the sidelines watching something, it is easy for people to think that they know what is best in how to do something. However, all they see is just a portion of the bigger picture. In that small portion that is seen, it appears as though one can know what is best.

Many people question God and what He does or allows in their lives. Some will get angry with God because they feel that He should have done things differently or allowed different circumstances to occur.

Even the wisest person on their earth has very extremely limited knowledge of the bigger picture than God does. It is God who was there at the beginning and created everything that is. It is God who is in perfect control of every part of nature in this universe.

No person has the knowledge or ability to control as perfectly as God does. When things are going ‘bad’, believers need to stop questioning and trust God’s judgement and choices. He has wisdom and knowledge that goes back to the beginning of time and is perfect.

During difficult times in your life, it will be easy to want to question God and tell Him how things should be done. Take a step back and think about how little knowledge you really have compared to that of God.

Allow yourself to stop trusting yourself and this world and begin to fully trust God. His love for you is perfect and His ways for you will always be perfect, what is best for you each and every time. Don’t speak without knowledge or true wisdom but walk in faith in God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will trust God’s direction in your life; that you will not speak against God’s counsel; and that you will walk in the ways of God.
