David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. But David found strength in the Lord his God. 1 Samuel 30:6
Difficulties arise in the lives of people on a regular basis. In order to deal with the difficulty, people will turn to many different things to find strength. Movies, music, drugs, sex, other people and more are sought out to get the needed strength to cope with what is going wrong. Rather than finding the needed strength, they gain more problems to deal with.
After the families of David and his men had been captured, his men wanted to stone David. David found his strength to continue in God.
Just as the world seeks to gain strength through the things of this world, many believers will do the same. Some will turn to sinful things in the process of seeking the needed strength to deal with difficult situations. Others will turn to Christian music, ministry, services, books and other Christian things to find their strength.
While all of these things may be good, they are things made by man and can fall short of what is really needed. Instead of seeking the things of man, good or bad, one needs to seek God.
God is eternal and is everywhere. He is perfect love and has perfect wisdom for every situation. No matter how bad the situation is, God can provide hope, comfort and the needed strength to make it through the situation. He will lead the believer in the right direction without leading him into sinful thoughts or actions.
Sometimes God will remove the difficulty, while other times He may give strength through the difficulty. It comes to turning to God and trusting Him for what is needed.
There will be times in your life that you will face extreme difficult and maybe even dangerous situations in your life.
Temptation will arise to get you to react as the world does, taking things into your own hands or falling into despair and hopelessness.
Rather than going the way of the world, turn to God and seek Him. Flee the temptation of sin and death. Rely upon God to give you the needed strength to keep moving forward in His ways and His plan for your life. His strength will be everlasting and more than enough.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek God for strength in every situation in your life; that you will trust God for the needed strength; that God will guide you away from sinful choices; and that you will see God’s hand at work in your life.
