Judges 19:30 This Should Not Be Done

Everyone who saw it was saying to one another, “Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Just imagine! We must do something! So speak up!” Judges 19:30

Every day there are actions being done everywhere a person goes. Some of these actions are good and others are bad. Most often people go through their day mostly ignoring the actions of others. They allow others to do what they want, though they may talk about it behind closed doors. Actions are allowed with no responsibility or repercussions.

A Levite had stopped in a city with his concubine and the men of the city raped and killed her. He made notice of it throughout Israel. The people called out to each other to speak up because the horror of what occurred.

In every city and nation, the majority of people are often ones who do not serve God or serve God only in title. Nearly every possible way to sin is encouraged and performed on a regular basis. The majority of people either participate in the sinful acts or they ignore the acts.

Many believers are often included in the ones who participate in the sin or ignore it. True believers will take offense to sin being encouraged. They will understand that such sin should not be done and will raise a cry up against it, rather than just ignore it.

Ignoring sin is to promote it. The world will never know it is bad, unless someone tells them. The world will never know Jesus, unless someone tells them.

Following the ways of God and obeying His commands should be the heart’s desire of the believer. Standing up against sinful acts and pointing people to God and His ways is to be the goal of the believer.

Take a look around you and see what is being promoted and encouraged. Most likely it is sinful things that are against God and His ways.

Do not allow yourself to participate in any of those sinful ways. Flee from the sin and run to God. Put your focus upon His holiness and way of living.

Be willing to take a stand and speak up against sin and point people to God and His ways of living. Show the world what true living is like, rather than ignoring it and allowing them to die in their sins.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will live the holy life God has called you to live; that God will give you the boldness to stand up against sinful practices; that you will be a witness of God’s holiness and love; and that God will show you what you can do to point the world to Him.
