And when the Lord sent you out from Kadesh Barnea, he said, “Go up and take possession of the land I have given you.” But you rebelled against the command of the Lord your God. You did not trust him or obey him. Deuteronomy 9:23
Very few people actually like to be told what to do. Most people like to be free and be able to do what they want, how they want and when they want to do it.
As a result, most people will rebel against authority and refuse to obey the commands.
Moses reminded the people how God had given them a command to take possession of some land, but they rebelled against God refusing to trust or obey God.
Being rebellious against sinful or wrong leadership can be a good thing, but most often people are rebellious for personal, selfish reasons and choose to rebel against God. People want their own way. Believers can often become rebellious against God in choosing to follow the ways of the world rather than obey God.
God’s first desire is to never destroy or harm a person. His love is so great that all He wants to do is bless and build up a person. In order to do that God will guide and direct the path of a person to accomplish His goal. This means that He will give commands that need to be followed.
No matter what the command is or how crazy it sounds, the believer must be willing to trust God with all of His heart, soul and mind, knowing that God knows what is best. As he trusts in God, he must then be willing to obey God and not be rebellious against God.
Trusting and obeying God will bring about far greater results of life than rebellion and disobedience.
Regardless of where you are in your life, God has some commands for you to follow. He knows what is best for you to build you and to build His kingdom through you.
Do not allow the corrupt and sinful ways of this world cause you to rebel against God and not trust or obey Him. If God loves you so much to send His Son to die for you, He will only command what is best for you.
If you trust God for your salvation, trust His commands also and don’t be rebellious as some are.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God is commanding you to do; that you will obey God’s commands for you; and that God will strengthen you to not fall into the rebellious ways of this world.
