The Lord said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the signs I have performed among them? Numbers 14:11
It is very common for people to complain about those who lead them. Often, they look backwards to a time prior to the current leader, wishing to go back to that time or previous leaders.
Finding fault with the leaders, rather than themselves, occurs on a regular basis, then people begin to cut down the leaders, rather than lift them up.
The people began to complain against God, claiming He brought them out of Egypt to die. God asked how long they would treat Him with contempt, refusing to believe in Him when they had seen miracles by Him.
When things do not go exactly like one thinks they should, many people are quick to blame God. Some will begin to say that God is just out to kill them and leave them out to die on their own.
Doing this is forgetting what God has already done in one’s life. Miracles and provision by God occur on a regular basis, but many are very quick to forget about them during a difficult time. All that is seen is the problem and forgetting the power and abilities of God.
Acting in this way is treating God with contempt or badly. It is saying that God does not really love or is not really good.
Instead of complaining and treating God badly, one must step back and remember what God has already done in his life. Counting God’s blessings and provisions will get one’s perspective back in the right place, knowing that God IS love and does care. It will strengthen one’s belief.
There will be times that you will go through very difficult times that feel as though God is abandoning you. Do not allow yourself to blame God or reject Him, thinking that He has done this to you.
Remember what God has already done in your life. Count up all the good things that has occurred and build your trust in God during the hard times.
God does love you and will never leave you, nor forsake you. Everything that He does will be for your eternal benefit. Trust in God and do not treat Him badly in hard times.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will remember the blessings and miracles God has done in your life; that you will not reject God; that you will believe God’s word to you; and that you will walk in faith in God.
