Exodus 11:5 Disobedience Comes At A High Price

Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well. Exodus 11:5

Disobeying a law is a very common thing to be seen all over the world. It occurs because often there does not appear to be any consequences and that the person is getting away with it.

When there are consequences, often they are very light and easy to deal with. When consequences of breaking the law are high enough, most people will refuse to break the law.

After Pharaoh refused to obey God and let the people go, God chose to kill every firstborn son in the land of Egypt.

The firstborn child of the ancient world was a sign of authority and blessing of God. It meant the namesake was to be carried on. Having a firstborn son was one of the greatest honors a person has.

Although the view of the firstborn being an honor has changed, people today have something that they honor as great that they have. This thing, whatever it is, is placed above everything and everyone else, giving purpose and value to the person.

When a person refuses to obey God, He may take what is the person’s highest treasure to get his attention. God is willing to remove whatever stands in the way of a person choosing to follow Him, whether it is a thing, a job, a person or anything else.

Many people refuse to obey God. Right now, it appears as if they are getting away free. However, there will be a time that God will exact a price from them for their disobedience. Ultimately it will be the cost of their soul, cast into the fire of hell for eternity.

Is there anything that in your life that God is asking you to do that you are refusing to do? This is disobeying God.

At this point God may be having mercy upon you, but there will come a time when God will call you to account for that disobedience.

Do not allow that time when it will cost you your life. That is a price you cannot afford to pay. Repent of all sin and obey God. He will give you life greater than any sin you can do.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will be willing to obey God in all areas of your life; that you will humble yourself before God; and that God will not have to punish you with eternal death for sins you refused to repent of.
