Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink. Genesis 21:19
There are a few things that are needed to live life on this earth. Without them one would die or have a very high chance of dying.
When these things are missing, people begin to fear for their lives. Others turn to drastic measures to accommodate what they need. Many will also give up, believing it is hopeless doing absolutely nothing or maybe choose to end their lives.
Hagar and her son had been cast out of the family by Sarah. As she wandered in the desert, she sat down, giving up and waiting to die. God comes to her and provides water.
Believers are no different than non-believers in that they will have times of extreme trouble. They will lose jobs, get sick, lose their home, go without food or water, or some other disaster in their lives.
It is easy for many to be just like Hagar and fear what is happening, when extreme troubles occur, and want to just give up and die. Many are quick to lose hope or focus on what God can do in their lives.
God is the God who made everything and is in complete control. He is able to provide something out of nothing, just as He created the heavens and the earth out of nothing with just His word. He has often already put provision in place.
Often people do not see what is available right in front of them and all they need to do is open their eyes to see the needed provision He has already put in place right in front of them. God can and will provide every need as needed.
You may be in desperate measures needing something that appears to be out of your reach. Hope may be slipping away from you, and you feel like sitting down and giving up and waiting to die.
Do not allow yourself to give up and lose hope in God. Look to God who provides above and beyond all that you can need, think or desire. Ask God to open your eyes to the provision that He has already placed before you to meet your need.
As you trust in God and continue to listen and obey Him, He will provide for all of your needs.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will see God’s hand of provision in your life; that you will trust God for all of your needs; and that you will not give up but turn to God for every need.
