Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14
Whenever a person does something good, he will often expect to receive some type of reward for the action done. That reward may be just words, or actions or something physical.
One thing that people are looking for is how to live longer. For most people, life is precious and they hang on to it, however, sickness and death keep coming with no apparent stopping of it.
John records Jesus saying that those who have washed their robes are blessed and will be allowed to eat of the tree of life and enter the new city in heaven.
Washing of clothing is something that people do so that they may be clean and presentable. This allows them to enter places that they would not be able to if they were filthy dirty.
In life every person is wearing some type of spiritual clothing. It is either the filthy dirty clothing of the world and sin, or it is the cleaned righteous holy clothing that has been washed in the blood of Jesus, removing all sin.
While a person is wearing clothing stained by sin, he is not allowed to eat of the tree of life and live forever. When Jesus returns, he will be cast out into the lake of fire.
However, ever person who has chosen to believe in and follow Jesus has allowed his clothes to be cleansed by Jesus. He is forgiven of his sins and given clean clothing, allowing him to eat of the tree of life and live forever in heaven.
Only by personal choice can a person be made ready for the blessing of eternal life.
Every time that you have sinned and done something against God, you have stained your clothing and need a washing. Without Jesus and a cleansing, you are dirty and will not be allowed to be blessed with eternal life in heaven.
Choose today to go to Jesus to have your clothing washed and all of your sins removed. Repent of the sins you have done against God and Jesus will forgive you and cleanse you. Turn away from all sin and be a new creation in Christ Jesus and be ready for the reward of eternal life in heaven.
Are you ready for the blessing when Jesus returns?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will repent of your sins against God; that you will allow God to cleanse you of all unrighteousness; and that you will be ready for the blessing of eternal life when Jesus returns.
