2 Corinthians 6:15 Really Nothing In Common

What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 2 Corinthians 6:15

Unity is something that most people like to have with those they are around. Usually people flock towards those that are like them, so that there will be little to no conflict or disagreements.

Currently in the world, many are striving to make everyone the same. They want everyone to have equal share of physical, mental, and emotional things. Some will try to say that every person is the same, regardless of belief or actions.

Paul brings up the question of what do believers have to do with any idol or unbeliever.

Idols have absolutely no place in the life of any believer, in any way, shape or position. Along with idols not having a place, unbelievers do not really have a place either. The only place an unbeliever has is for the believer to be a witness to him.

Instead of making a difference in the lives of unbelievers, many believers have embraced the unbeliever without calling for a change or commitment to Christ. Many in the church have embraced the thoughts and attitudes of the world allowing sin to enter in.

Believers are to love all people, but are to hate the sin and point people to Jesus. As Jesus walked on the earth among the sinners, He called people out of sin and told them to leave their life of sin. He did not engage in sin with them.

There is no unity between a believer and sin, between God and a sinful lifestyle. There needs to be a marked difference between those in the church–believers, and those outside the church–unbelievers. If there is no difference, then the believer is not really a believer, but a counterfeit.

Take a moment and examine your life and see what is most important to you. Ask yourself who your friends are and who or what do those friends point you to.

If those you are around the most are not pointing you towards God, are you pointing them towards God? Do not be the one who is influenced by the world to live as the world does in sin and rebellion, but be the one who influences the world for God to live as Jesus did in holiness and righteousness.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that your life will be one of service towards God; that you will live separated unto God; that God will give you strength to not bow down to the idols of this world; and that you will influence the world for God.
