John 14:27 Peace, Don’t Be Afraid

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

With all of the wars and fighting going on around the world, peace is something that people are searching for all the time. As they search for peace, people are looking for things to calm their nerves and help them relax.

Not only is there fear of the wars going on, but there are fears of many other types. Fear of debt, of the economy, of leadership, of rejection, of failure and more abound in the hearts of people.

As Jesus is preparing for His death and leaving, He tells the disciples that He is leaving His peace with them. He tells them not fear at all or be troubled about what is happening.

The world’s definition of peace is that there is no troubles or problems. Many have become Christians with this thought in mind, that there would be no more problems in this world.

However, that is not the type of peace that Jesus promised on this earth. His peace is that He is in control, no matter how bad the situation looks. It is the true believer in Jesus knowing that no matter what happens, God is going to take care of him and he will be on the winning, victorious side in the end.

As one has this mindset, he will not be afraid. The world can be crumbling around him, but he does not fear, because he knows that God will win and he is on God’s winning team.

This peace is not an outer calm, but an inner peace of the heart. It is a peace that removes all fear of what man can do.

As with every other person on this earth, you have some troubles in your life. Some of those troubles may appear to be very large and overwhelming.

Take your mind off of those troubles and put your focus upon Jesus. It is He who is in control and will bring you through to victory in the end.

When you focus upon what Jesus can do and has already done, you will have His inner peace and no fear in your life. All the world can do is take your body. God has your soul. Do not be afraid, but be at peace.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the peace He gives you; that you will not fear the troubles of this world; that you will trust God’s work in your life; and that you will know victory in Jesus.
