Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:4
When people start out to learn to do something new, they want to be a professional at it immediately. Very few people like the idea of having to work at it, being patient while learning and growing.
With this attitude, many people will strive to cut corners in the learning and will end up short of their goal or they end up giving up because of the difficulties involved. This can be seen in every age of life and every area of life.
James encourages the believers to continue to persevere so that they may become complete and having all that they need.
Growing as a believer in Jesus is not something that is instant nor is it always easy. Going through difficult times, sets a person up to learn and grow more mature. Just as a child that is growing physically, must be patient and will go through many growing pains.
Just as in other areas of life, believers will often try to cut corners in learning to grow in Jesus to become a mature believer. Instead of persevering through prayer and study of the bible, they gloss over both, cutting many corners.
Most want to be instant large believers doing great works for God. Living as one who does great works for God, comes with slow growth and struggles. God uses difficult situations to help build the believer up.
Instead of getting frustrated, cutting corners or giving up, the believer must be willing to persevere in his training. The more God is allowed to train the believer, the more he will be able to do for God and the greater his trust in God in every way.
He will become a mature and complete believer in the end.
God will allow difficult situations to occur in your life, in order to train you to trust in Him and do what He commands. Rather than fighting God and trying to cut corners, do what God says and grow despite what is occurring.
Persevere in running hard after God and becoming like Jesus more and more. As you hang in there and don’t give up, God will make you complete and provide everything that you need for life and to be more like Jesus.
Never ever give up! Hang in there and you will make it.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will persevere in the situations God brings into your life; that you will do all God commands you to do; that you will grow in maturity in Jesus; and that God will provide for all that you need so that you will never lack anything.
