2 Corinthians 5:20 Be Reconciled To God

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

Everyone who has a checking account with a bank, must work on keeping it reconciled on a regular basis. They have to make sure that what they see as the correct balance, also matches up with what the bank says is the correct balance.

If one does not do the reconciliation, then he will either be very short or way over on his bank account. It will cause great problems in the end.

Right after telling the Corinthian church that God sent His Son to reconcile everyone to Himself, Paul pleads with the people to be reconciled to God.

Just as with the checking account needing to be reconciled with the bank, people need to be reconciled with God. Life on this earth is an account with God. He has given every person life with a balance.

Every person has spent what God has given on themselves in sinful activities. As a result, every person is living in a deficit, owing God. The death of Jesus upon the cross, has reconciled that debt to God. He paid the balance of what was owed.

However, not every person has accepted the reconciliation. Many reject the reconciliation, thinking that they have all the life that there is. Others reject it, trying to pay for it themselves by doing good works.

The only way a person can be reconciled with God, is to put his trust in what Jesus did for him on the cross. He must accept what Jesus did, and then live the righteous life Jesus has provided. One must never go back into debt, owing God.

If you have never reconciled your debt with God, now is the time to do it. The debt is your life. Jesus paid for your life and reconciled that debt.

Instead of living for yourself and this world, live for God. Seek to please God in all that you do. Put on the righteousness of Jesus and live the holy life He has provided for you to live.

Do not go back to the old way of living in sin and incurring debt with God. You do not know when God will call your account into full. If you are found wanting in debt, you will lose and die in the end. If you are found reconciled, you will live forever.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be reconciled to God; that you will live the righteous life Jesus has given you; that you will turn towards God and away from all sin; and that you will serve God with all of your life.
