The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Romans 13:12
Night is always known for darkness. Not only the darkness of the absence of light, but also darkness of deeds and actions.
The majority of robberies, violence and other crimes occur in the darkness of night. Those who do those things, do them in the night, because they do not want to be exposed or seen in the light of day. When day begins to approach, many will stop doing the crimes.
Paul just pointed out that salvation is nearer than ever before. Salvation comes in the morning, so one is to stop doing evil deeds and put on God’s armor of light.
Just as the world lives in sinful ways, there are many believers who continue to purposefully live in sinful ways in the same way. They continue to sin, thinking that no one, nor God can see them or cares. Some of this is done behind closed doors or in the mind, while some is done openly.
Many believe that they have time to repent and change later, rather than right away. Others feel that it is acceptable to stay in sin, because of God’s great mercy and grace upon them.
In both cases, people are not realizing that day is approaching where God’s light will reveal their sinful acts. It is also difficult to turn from sin when one does not realize that salvation is right around the corner and all temptation will be done away with.
Every believer must realize that Jesus died to take away their sin, not so they can sin more, but that they may sin less and remain sinless. They must be ready to wake up, by getting rid of sinful acts, for their salvation is near.
Examine your life and see if you are allowing any sinful habits in your life. Know that Jesus is returning soon or God may require your life soon. Your salvation is coming.
Turn away from all sin. Stop doing what is against God and His word. Put on the armor of light, God’s armor. Live as God has called you to live your life, not as the world lives, but holy and righteous.
Time to change is running out. The day is almost here when you time is up.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will turn away from all sinful ways of living; that you will live in the light of God’s word; that you will know your salvation is coming; and that God will strengthen you to live for Him.
