But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen–Acts 26:22
When people talk about some great event or situation that occurred, they like to add their own little twists to the story. They want to put in their own interpretation of what had happened.
As this is done, it is common that the truth about what occurred is changed. Details are often overlooked and the truth is ignored or missed.
Paul was being tried for his preaching. As he stood in court to make his defense, he told them that he has said nothing than that what was already said in the past by the prophets and the known Scripture at the time.
Today believers have all of the Old and New Testament to know what God has to say. It shows the leading up o and after Jesus arrived to provide salvation for all people. God wants people to be informed of His message to all people.
Some, however, want to add to the scriptures. They try to say things that are not found in the Bible and make it as though it is God’s word. Or they take and change what the Bible is really saying to make it say what they want to hear.
When people talk more than what Scripture says, they often promote or allow for sin and deviation from God’s word. The message of salvation is watered down and often made contradictory to what God said.
Every believer is to spread the gospel message, just as God has laid it out. They are not to add or take away from the message. As with the old court saying, they are to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Going through your days God will open doors for you to spread the gospel message to others. You have a choice as to what you will speak. You can either speak the truth according to God’s word, or you can speak your own version of the truth.
Do not allow yourself to deviate away from what God has already said. You may talk of your experience, but keep it in line with what God’s word teaches and says.
Be willing to testify before all people what God has to tell them.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God says in His word; that you will speak the words of God to those you meet; and that God will open doors for you to be His witness to others about the salvation Jesus brings.
