The Lord has vindicated us; come, let us tell in Zion what the Lord our God has done. Jeremiah 51:10
When someone wins a battle he wants to tell everyone about it. He wants it to be known that the battle is over and there is victory.
People often find themselves in a court battle fighting for their rights or to prove that they are innocent. They pay lawyers a lot of money to get the off the hook of being guilty and being sentenced.
As soon as the court battle is won, the person is excited. He wants to tell everyone what has occurred and who won the battle for him, giving him freedom.
Israel and Judah had sinned against God, so He put them in exile in Babylon. After a time, God chose to crush Babylon and release His people from bondage. Jeremiah tells the people to tell everyone what God has done for them.
Every person who believes in and follow Jesus has a story to tell. They were bound up in sin with a judgement of death upon their heads. In the courts of heaven, they were guilty of sin and deserved only death.
Once a person believes in Jesus and repents of sin, Jesus breaks that judgement and removes the guilt of sin in their lives. They are set free from bondage and death.
Just as with the Israelites were to tell of what God had done for them, the believer is to tell of what God has done in his life. There are billions of other people who are still under the judgement of death and need to know how to get out from under that judgement. They need to know the story of how Jesus can and will set them free.
You also, as a believer, have a story to tell. You have your own story of how you came to know Jesus and accept Him into your life. You have your own story of what God has forgiven you of and the path that He now has you on.
People need to hear that story. They need to know about Jesus and what He can and will do for them.
Be willing to go out and tell people of how God has set you free from the bondages you were under. This is being the witness that Jesus has called every believer to do. Who can you tell today? What is your story?
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will tell others about Jesus; that you will know what God has done for you; and that you will talk of what God has done in and for you.
