He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. Psalm 111:5
One of the things that every person needs on this earth is food. A person cannot live without food for very long. Food is what gives a person the needed nourishment for the body to have the needed energy to accomplish what needs to be done.
When a person does not get enough food, there is a loss of energy and the body becomes susceptible to sickness and disease. There is a large group of people in every nation around the world that is not getting enough food to adequately sustain them in a healthy lifestyle. In some nations, starvation is a common sight to see.
Many organizations provide food to many people, but they cannot provide to every person every where, all the time. There is still a shortage of food.
David points out that God provides food for those who fear Him. God does this because of His covenant, promise with the people.
Physical food is good for the body while living on this earth, but it is temporary and goes away quickly. No matter how much a person eats today, he will need more tomorrow.
God does provide physical food, but He also provides much more. He provided the eternal spiritual food that effects all of eternity. God has given His word for people to devour and live upon. The bible provides what the soul needs to live for eternity. It points a person to Jesus and guides the person in how to live for God.
God is and will be faithful in providing what a person needs. While physical food is good, it is also temporary. Jesus stated that His food was to do the will of God, to live according to His Word.
As you sit and eat physical meals each day, remember to eat of God’s spiritual food. Get into God’s word daily and hide it in your heart. It is in God’s word that you will find salvation in Jesus. It is in God’s word that you will find out how to live for God for all eternity.
Taste of the Lord and see that He is good and will provide all that you need, in this life and in the life to come.
Do not rely upon the food this world can provide, but upon God and His eternal word. Trust His provision for your life.
I pray today that you will know God’s word in your life; that God will provide daily what you need; that you will be sustained by God’s word; and that you will know the words of God that bring eternal life.
