Genesis 41:16 Give God The Credit

Path on a hill

“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” Genesis 41:16

People all over the world are constantly looking for answers. Just like children, most adults like to ask the question, “why?”. They want answers as to why things happen as they do.

In the majority of cases, people seek those answers from other people or books that people have read. In that process many will choose the ways of the world to get their answer and will also be given the answer that the world gives.

Those that give the answer, will usually take full credit for that answer. The want to be seen as the person with the wisdom and knowledge. People want to feel as though they are really important and are somebody.

Many believers have fallen into this trap of taking the credit for what they say or do. They feel as though they are the ones who had full power and ability to say or do what was said or done. It was their own wisdom and knowledge.

While Joseph had been in prison, God had given him knowledge of the meaning of some other prisoner’s dreams. Later, when one of those prisoners was released, Pharaoh had a dream also that he wanted interpreted. Joseph was called before Pharaoh.

Pharaoh’s first statement was that he heard that Joseph could interpret dreams. Immediately Joseph stated that he cannot interpret the dreams, but that God can give the answer needed. With the guidance of God, Joseph then interprets the dream.

Joseph could easily have taken credit for interpreting dreams, but he did not. He gave God the full credit.

As a human, it is easy to think that one has the ability to do something, when in reality it is God working in and through that person.

There is absolutely nothing that you cannot do, unless God gives you the ability to do it. This even includes breathing. If you cannot breath without God’s help, how much less can you interpret dreams or do some other ministry or work for Him?

When God uses you to touch someone’s life, such as in prayer, witnessing, helping hand, interpretation, a word,  or anything else, give Him the credit for the ability, wisdom and knowledge.

Don’t take the credit that belongs to God. He is the one who did it.

I pray today that you will know God’s power and abilities; that you will give God credit for all works done; that you will point all people to God and not to self; and that God will use you to touch many people.
