Mark 16:4 God Makes A Way

Large Stone On Path

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. Mark 16:4

Jesus had died and been buried. Mary and some other women had chosen to go to His tomb to anoint His body. As they were going, they wondered how they would get the stone moved from the entrance to the tomb. When they walked up to the tomb, they found the stone had already been removed.

It was the custom of Jewish people during the biblical times to anoint the body after death. This was to preserve and honor the body. At the time of His death, no one really expected to ever see Jesus again. He had died and was buried. No one had ever been raised from the dead once he was buried.

God had other plans, rather than let Jesus stay buried. He had provided a way for Jesus to rise again from the dead and to live for the rest of eternity. He conquered death.

There are times in life when a person has to face up to something that looks impossible. God may lead the person to do something that has a large stone or mountain in front of it.

Some people will give up when they see the large stone, knowing that they cannot move that stone. They may not even see the stone, because they know it is there and give up before it is even in front of them. Before Mary left her house, she knew the stone was there, yet she went anyway.

Before they ever headed to the tomb, God knew that they would need to see into the tomb. If the stone was in the way and they could not see in, how would they ever know Jesus had risen from the dead? God made a way that seemed impossible.

There may be a large stone in your path. You cannot see around it and it is too large for you to move it. You must trust God and go forward as He has directed you to move. Trust that when you get up to that stone, God will move it.

Some stones may be moved completely out of the way. Others may be split (as the Red Sea). Other times He may direct you around or over that stone.

In any way He chooses, trust God to make a way.

I pray today that you will know God’s direction for your life; that you will trust God with any stones in your way; that God will make a way for you; and that you will do God’s will at all times.
