Jeremiah 1:6-8 I’m Not Qualified

“Alas, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 1:6-8

God had called Jeremiah to speak to the nations. It is believed that Jeremiah was just a teenager at the time of this calling. The first thing Jeremiah tells God is that he cannot speak and is too young, he is not qualified to do the job.

These are common words for many people, even today. God calls a person to do some type of ministry and the first thing they say is that they are not qualified. This is not even talking about going around the world to reach nations, it is just doing ministry in their local church, town or workplace.

People like to say that they do not have the training or experience to do a ministry. The problem is that everyone has to start at some point with no real training. Going to bible college sounds good, but all it really gives one is book knowledge. Real experience is learned by actually going out and doing a ministry.

God allows you to get experience in the real world by giving you an assignment. The professors in the college cannot give you the words to speak and they will not be there with you. God will do both.

Every believer has a testimony of what God has done in his life. You have yours also. All you need to do is go out and tell others what God has done for you and what God can do for them. As you go into this world, God will give you the words to speak and He will not leave you alone. There will be trouble and hard times, but God will bring you through them.

Let go of your fears and be willing to step out into what God has for you to do. Jeremiah did and became one of the great prophets. With God you are more than qualified to do anything He has called you to do.

What are you willing to let God do through you?

I pray today that God will show you what He has for you to do; that you will not fear doing God’s will; that you will know God’s presence in your life; and that you will speak the words God gives you.
