The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; Psalm 24:1
Accumulation of things is a common activity of most people. The majority of people any place in this world, want to have more than what they currently have. They want more or they want something bigger and better. Or they want to be able to keep up with their neighbors.
People do not want to feel like they are left out when it comes to having something. Advertisements tell everyone that they must have that item or they will not really be living.
Once people get the item, they want to show it off to everyone. They want to be seen with that new item as though it is their own item.
The reality is that even though in the eyes of the world, a person does own some given item, God is the one who truly owns it. God is the one who made this world and everything in it.
God has given man the ability to take the things He made in this world, manipulate it to make it into something different. He has given man the ability to take a tree, that He made and owns, cut it down and reshape it into a chair. So even the ability to make something is not a person’s alone, it is God-given, so it is also God-owned.
Keep this in mind as you use or purchase things in this world. Also keep it in mind when an item breaks down or is taken from you. You are not the real owner of that item. God is the one who owns it all.
Not only does God own the items, He also owns you. When Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He purchased from the world. He paid the price to have and own you.
Everything that happens to you is in God’s control and concern. Do not worry about your life and things that you have. It is God’s to deal with. Follow God and trust Him in what happens in your life and what you have in your life. Use what you have and are for His service and glory. You really don’t own it anyway.
I pray today that you will know what God has blessed you with; that you will know that God owns everything; that you will allow God to have control of your life and things; and that you will use what you have been given for God’s glory.
