Exodus 31:6 Equipped To Do The Job

“Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given ability to all the skilled workers to make everything I have commanded you:” Exodus 31:6

God had given Moses the detailed instructions on how to build the tabernacle and everything in it. The size, shape, and materials to be used were laid out in extreme detail. Now He appointed some people to be the ones to do the building of everything. God tells him that He has given each of these workers the ability to do the work required.

Since God has made the universe and everything in it, He is the ultimate builder. There is nothing that He cannot make. Along with that He has given man the ability to make and do things.

In His infinite wisdom, He has chosen to have His people to do His work in this world. Every believer is the hands, feet and voice of God in this world. Yet, as He has chosen people to do the work, He did not leave them on their own. He has given each one the ability to do the work He has called each one to do.

You may feel God telling you to do some new work for Him. You look at it and say you have no ability to do it. It is something new to you that you have never done before or it is bigger than anything you have ever done. While all that may be true, God can give you the ability to carry out the mission.

Very often God has had you in training to do a work for Him for many years. You have developed certain abilities that will give you the ability to take on a new and larger task for Him. When He calls you to that task, you must seek His wisdom and direction, and trust in His abilities.

God will not call you to something that He has not equipped you to do. Jesus said that He would always be with you and would give you all the power you need.

Are you trusting God for the ability to do His work?

Or are you running away in fear?

Trust God today and do the work He has called you to do.

I pray today that you will know the mission God is calling you to do; that God will fill you with His wisdom and direction to do the work; that God will give you favor in getting the task done; and that God will draw many to Jesus through your work in this world.

  1. Another great post. These passages are also a great reminder that we don’t have to have the same giftings and skills as someone else. When we yearn for the gifting that God has given to someone else we neglect the gifting we have been given to grow the kingdom.
