Jude 3 Fighting For The Faith

“Dear Friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people.” Jude 3

The author of Jude starts out stating that he wanted to talk about the salvation that all believers has, but felt he needed to deal with something else. He felt he needed to urge the readers to contend for the faith that they have. The faith they have is the belief in Jesus death, resurrection and salvation provided.

For a person to contend it is to strive very hard for, or to fight for. It is not a physical fight, but a fight of standing the ground for what is believed in.

Believers are to use all of their knowledge and abilities to stand up for what they believe in. They are not to allow the enemy to gain any ground against them.

The world is constantly trying to prove that Jesus did not really exist or was not who He said He was. Many others are trying to state that Jesus will not return. Everywhere one looks there are people striving hard to fight against belief in Jesus.

As a believer in Jesus, you must be willing to take the stand in belief in Jesus and what He has done. First, to not allow yourself to be deceived or start to question what you believe. Second, to tell others who Jesus is and what He can and will do for them.

This takes an effort. It is not something that is always easy and simple. People will fight against you and ridicule you. This is where the contending comes in. You must stand strong and firm in what you believe and fight for it.

Do not allow the world to change your beliefs, but change theirs. Show God to them in a way that will impact them and change their beliefs. Pass your beliefs on to the rest of the world.

I pray today that you will know what you believe in Jesus; that God will give you the words and strength to stand up for what Jesus did; that you will be on the frontlines of the battle for Jesus; and that God will use you to draw many people to Jesus.
