Romans 9:2-3 Great Sorrow

“I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my people, those of my own race” Romans 9:2-3

Although Paul went to the Gentiles to preach the gospel message, his heart was still for his own people, the Israelites. The Israelites did not like to listen to him and wanted him dead. It was others that would listen to him. Yet, Paul was in great sorrow for his people. It was so great that he wished he could be sacrificed for them. He was willing to die for them so that they could live.

In the world today most people are only concerned about themselves. They are more concerned about their own life, then for the lives of other people. The love people show for others is usually just a surface love. There is no real deep, true love for others. This even includes good friends most of the time.

Very few believers take the time to be a witness to people around them about who Jesus is and what He has done for them. Most do not want to offend someone else. Others are afraid of what will be said or done.

Jesus left heaven to come to this old earth. He suffered extreme persecution and died on a cross just to save you. He went to extreme lengths to save you.

What should you do for others to see them come to a saving knowledge of Jesus? You cannot save them, but you can give them the message. Your heart should be the same as that of Jesus and Paul. It should be one that is willing to die for another to be saved.

Paul was willing to be cursed and condemned by God if it would have saved all of his people. God will never ask you to be cursed and condemned by Him in order to save others. All He asks is that you tell them about Jesus.

Are you telling someone about Jesus? Do you have great sorrow in your heart for the lost, both friends and everyone else?

What is your desire? Is it for yourself or for others to be saved?

I pray today that you will know God’s heart for the lost; that you will have the love Jesus had for the lost; that Jesus will show you how to be His witness; and that you will tell everyone you meet about Jesus.
