Acts 10:34-35 God’s Acceptance

“Then Peter began to speak: I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right.” Acts 10:34-35

Cornelius was a Roman centurion who believed in God and followed Him. He received a vision from God to meet with Peter. The Jewish belief was that Jews could not meet with someone in the home of a Gentile, anyone not a Jewish decent. Peter meets with him and hears his story of his vision from God. He then realizes that God does not show favoritism only to the Jewish people, but loves everyone.

Prior to this point all the Jewish people believed that they were the only people on the earth that could be saved. This included the Christians following Jesus. God had started to reveal that He wants to save every person regardless of their nationality.

But notice that it is not absolutely everyone that God accepts. The ones He accepts are those who fear Him and do what is right.

The fear in this is to accept His authority and position as the Master Ruler. It is to respect His rules and ways of doing things. It is to obey Him in everything.

Doing what is right is following and believing in Jesus. It is no longer just following the Old Testament Laws and traditions. It is not just being a “good” person. It is believing and obeying Jesus.

Many in the world like to point out that God accepts everyone without the point of accepting those who fear Him and do what is right. Many churches are now accepting people living in purposeful sinful habits as good Christian people.

Regardless of your nationality, or your past history, God will accept you if you fear Him and obey Him. If you do not fear God and His word, you will not be accepted. People may accept you and you may look good, but you are still rejected by God.

Choose to fear God today with the correct fear. Choose to obey God in all that He says. Be a true believer today, and not just going through the motions in deception.

I pray today that you will have the right fear of God in your life; that you will learn to obey Jesus in everything; that you will be accepted by God; and that you will be a witness of who Jesus is and what God wants to everyone everywhere.
