Luke 23:5 A Stirring Up

“But they insisted, He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here.” Luke 23:5

Jesus had been taken captive and was being tried. They brought Him to Pilate to be charged. The accusation was that He was stirring up the people by His teaching. During His trial, this is one of the times that they spoke the truth, although they meant it for harm.

The teachings of Jesus does cause a stirring. There will be a division among people when His teachings are taught. The reason for this is that all the teachings of Jesus are the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

One may ask why would speaking the truth cause such a stirring? Everyone states that they want to hear only the truth. No one likes to be lied to.

Although everyone makes that statement, very few really want the truth. The world definitely does not want the truth. People hate the truth because it makes them look weak and bad.

Jesus brought the truth that man sinned against God and is going to die. God will bring judgment upon all sin. He also pointed out that there is nothing in yourself that you can do about it. You need Him.

No one likes this type of information, yet, it is the truth.

You must be willing to accept the truth that God speaks to you. You must also be willing to spread that truth to others.

When Jesus spoke the truth, He spoke in it love and caring. He cared for the people and wanted to save them. He does not want anyone to die.

Are you willing to speak that same truth in the same love and care? As you do, it will cause a stirring. Some people will accept it, others will reject it. Many will accuse you, like they did Jesus, of causing a disturbance.

Do not be afraid of what the world will say or do. Trust God and seek only what He will say or do. Keep your life focused on Jesus and upon His truth. May the truth that you speak disturb the world and bring a change to many lives.

I pray today that God will reveal His truth to you; that you will know how to speak God’s truth in love; that you will have God’s love for all people; that you will love God’s truth; and that God will give you His boldness to speak His words.
