Luke 17:18 Ungrateful

“Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Luke 17:18

As Jesus was traveling along heading to Jerusalem, He was coming up to a small village. There were ten men with leprosy that were outside the village as the law required. They called out to Jesus to have mercy on them.

Jesus told them to go and show themselves to the priests. As they started going, they were healed. One of them, a Samaritan, a foreigner, immediately turned around and went back to Jesus and thanked Him.

This Samaritan realized what Jesus had done for him. He knew the value of what had occurred. He was also very grateful for what happened. He did not take the healing for granted. He also knew that Jesus could have left him in his condition and not broken any laws.

Very often good things occur in the lives of people. Some of those things are the very things that they asked God to help with.

All too often, however, many do not stop and give God thanks and praise for the good things that happened. Many feel that they deserved the good things or they just check it off as coincidence or their hard work.

God is the one who is in control of everything in your life. He is the one who gives you good things. He is the one who deserves your praise.

Everyone is very quick to ask God for some need to be met. Once the need is met, often, people forget to give God thanks.

Do not be like the other nine men who had leprosy. They ran off to the priests and never looked back. Do not be ungrateful for what God has done and is doing in your life. Find reasons and ways to give God thanks and praise continually.

I pray that today you will give God thanks for the things He has done; that you will see what God has done for you; that you will tell others of what God has done for you; and that you will be His witness of His greatness and mercy.
