3 John 4 Testimony

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in truth.” 3 John 4

As John writes his final letter he talks about something that gives him really great joy. That something is that his children are walking in the truth.

These children are not just biological children, but those people who became Christians through his witness. Whoever he witnessed to and they became a believer, that person also became his child. John would take on the responsibility of training them in the ways and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Anyone who has one or more children can understand John’s joy. Every parent gets excited when their children do something right in the eyes of God. They are even more excited when the child graduates high school and continues to be active in the church and in following God with all their heart.

This “walking in the truth” is following all the teachings of Jesus. In other books John wrote that if you do not obey Jesus, you do not know God or love God. If you state that you love God you will also obey God.

In life, each day you are taking new steps, you are walking. As you walk, you must take the steps that Jesus would take. You, also, must walk in the truth. Remember, Jesus stated that He is truth.

Every believer has had a John in their life. This is someone who witnessed to you about Jesus. The one who brought you to a saving knowledge of Jesus. God, along with that person, will be filled with great joy, when they hear that you are walking in the truth–in Jesus.

Today are you able to bring that person that great joy? Are you walking in the truth–in Jesus? As you walk in the truth you are being a witness of God’s power in your life. This encourages the one who brought you to God and also shows the world who Jesus is.

In this life you are to be a witness of Jesus. Is your life being that witness? Is your life a testimony of the power of God?

I pray today that God will strengthen you to walk in His truth; that you will walk with Jesus daily; that you will be a witness to the world; that you will be a testimony for someone; and that God will use you daily to build His kingdom.
