Galatians 1:23 What Report Are They Hearing?

They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.” Galatians 1:23

Reports come out about famous people all the time. They talk about what the person is doing. Often the news is about something negative that occurred, drunk driving, drugs, divorce or more.

Rarely is the news about a complete change of character or actions. Most people do not go through a change of lifestyle large enough for people to sit up and take sudden notice of it. Usually it is a slow gradual change, if there is any.

Paul says that the people in the churches of Judea did not know him at all, but had heard reports about him. Those reports were that he was a completely different person.

Every person has a report about them. People who have met them do talk about them. The question is what are they saying? For the majority of people, life is always the same, day after day, year after year. There are very few major changes in their lives.

There are very few things in their lives that stick out as amazing or to catch the attention of everyone else. Most often the major change is a marriage/divorce, birth of a child, a new job, or a new move to a new location. Very seldom is it a change of character.

The person who becomes a believer, should go through a complete change of character. He is becoming a new creation in Jesus Christ. The old ways of thinking and doing things are to be gone.

This should be such a change that people are talking about it. While many believers don’t really change and still look like the world, the true believer should. He should have a complete change of character that has people noticing.

Take a moment to look at your life and listen to what people are saying about you. Is there a complete, radical change in your life that can be seen by others? Or do you still look and act like the world?

Allow God’s Holy Spirit to fill you and change you from the inside out. Become a new creation in Christ Jesus that will turn heads and get people to talking.

Do not allow yourself to look and act like the world, but to look and act like Jesus.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will guide you in turning away from the world and sin; that people will see you are a follower of Jesus; and that God will create you into a new creation.

Mark 15:12-14 Crucify Him!

“What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?” Pilate asked them. “Crucify him!” They shouted. “Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!” Mark 15:12-14

People are quick to get caught up in the excitement of the crowd. With just a few well stated words, a few people can stir up a large group of people to cast away all common sense, causing them to do what they normally would not do.

Most riots and protests start out this way, drawing in more people to the excitement.

Pilate found nothing criminal in Jesus, so he wanted to know what the people wanted done. As a whole, they wanted Jesus crucified, hung on a tree, even though He was innocent of any crime.

Very few people would agree to killing an innocent man. Currently, in America, there are many riots because a possibly innocent man was killed. People do not openly like that idea.

Even though most will say they do not want to see an innocent man killed, they do it every day. Each and every time someone sins against God, they are crying out “crucify Him” again and again.

People refuse to believe or remember that their acting upon their freedom to sin is what is crucifying Jesus. It is because of sin that Jesus went to the cross to be crucified to bring about forgiveness.

Those who are believers in Jesus and realize why He went to the cross, must strive not to place Him back on the cross. Turning away from all sin and refusing to give into temptation causes a person to not get caught up into the crowd of this world’s ways in crying out, “crucify Him.”

Every day there will those around you who do not care about Jesus. There will also be spiritual forces that will be working on you to get you to sin against God.

Remember that there are more with you on God’s side, than those against God. All of the angels and God’s Holy Spirit is with you to encourage you to turn from sin and not cry out, “Crucify Him.”

Do not get caught up in the sin and ways of this fallen world. Do not get caught up in the crowd against God. Be thankful for what He has done and serve Him.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of all sin; that you will turn from all sin; that you will serve Jesus and no longer crucify Him; and that you will be led by God and not this world.

2 Chronicles 28:23 Offerings To False gods

On a cliff

He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought, “Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me.” But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel. 2 Chronicles 28:23

Seeking help when in need is commonly done all around the world. When someone is seeking help, they will look to where other people are getting their help. It often does not matter where the help comes from, they will accept it.

Often in the process of searching for help, they accept help that is not real or is false help. It is the enemy seeking to find a way to infiltrate and get control.

Ahaz and all of Israel were living in rebellion against God following false gods. When the king of Aram had defeated him, he chose to offer sacrifice to their gods thinking that they may help him also. These became a snare to the nation and brought about their downfall.

Many believers have seen others who have nothing to do with God become very successful. When they see this they choose to follow their ways, rather than God’s ways.

They begin to compromise God’s standards in their lives. They begin to cheat and lie in small ways to get ahead, thinking this is the best way to succeed. They begin to promote ways that do not follow God and accept sin in their lives.

Physical sacrifice to false gods does not happen a lot in many nations, but sacrifice to worldly ways occurs all the time. Allowing sin to reign and using sin to get promoted occurs everywhere. Belief that just because someone is successful it must be good takes over the thinking, rather than looking at the bigger picture of what is really happening. Sinful lifestyles are being ignored and accepted inside the church.

You are called to be in this world, but not of it. You are to be separate from this world, yet a light in this world.

If you are living your life and trusting in the ways of this world as the world does, you are no different. The help that the world often receives is false help and false hope. You have a living God who has made a way for you. Trust in Him alone and sacrifice your life to Him alone.

Don’t allow a downfall come to your life.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will trust in God alone for your provision and help; that you will not follow the ways of this world; and that you will be a light in this world for Jesus.
