Isaiah 10:3 Who Will You Run To?

Running in the woods

What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? Where will you leave your riches? Isaiah 10:3

Disasters and troubles hit people all the time. When it occurs people will run somewhere for help. Most often it is to the government or some organization. In these two place many will try to find the help to make it through whatever situation that they are in.

Sometimes these groups can help some, but often it is just surface help. They are unable to help at the deeper levels of why the disaster occurred. Temporary help is given. It will help for a short amount of time, but then will run out and begin to fail.

Israel had been rejecting God and God was beginning to bring disaster upon them for their sins. He then begins to question them about where will they run to for help when the disaster God is bringing comes upon them. Their hope had been in people, governments and nations, not God.

It can be expected that people who do not follow or obey God will turn to the temporary things of this world for help. They do not know any better.

However, believers should be doing the same thing in turning to God. Often those in the church choose to reject God first and run after the temporary things of this world. They feel as though the groups and organizations of this world can do a better job first.

This is not putting trust in God, but in man.

When disaster comes upon a believer, and it will, the first thing he should do is go to God and trust in Him. God will often bring disaster upon someone to redirect his eyes back to Him, to get him back on to the right path with God. Running to man brings about destruction, running to God brings restoration.

As you are going through situations in your life, where is your trust? Are you running towards God and trusting Him? Or are you running towards man and his ways?

Focus your eyes and life upon God and His ways. Seek Him for all the help you need in every situation. Live your life in a way in which God does not have to correct you.

I pray today that you will know the love God has for you; that you will trust God’s work in your life; that you will run to God for all needed help; and that you will live for God with all of your life.

Isaiah 2:22 Stop Trusting Man

Back of person

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? Isaiah 2:22

People have all kinds of things to say. Scientists and doctors appear to know what is right and what is best. They have done the research and are supposed to be correct. Government officials always appear to have the best information about everything and anything and can guide the people correctly.

Some will hold on to what is said by someone because he has some huge title after his name and he went to some prestigious college. Others will believe the person because everyone else believes the person, regardless of what is being said.

Isaiah tells the people to stop just trusting people. People are temporary and just have breath, but no real knowledge or wisdom.

Believing in people can and will often lead to failure and fear. While scientists and doctors do know a lot, they do not know everything. In their limited knowledge there are many mistakes made leading people down the wrong road or in fear.

Believers tend to act in the same way as much of the world, they believe people. Many believers will follow some preacher or speaker, regardless of what is being said. One looks and sounds good, so he must be saying something right. Yet, some of these same speakers are leading people into open sin against God’s word.

Trust should be first and foremost in God and in God alone. Only God has the perfect answer every time. Only God has perfect knowledge of every situation. Only God has perfect wisdom in every situation. Only God will never fail.

If a person can trust Jesus with his life for salvation, he should trust God with everything else in his life. One should not allow that trust to be broken down and put into man’s words.

As you go through this life, who are you putting your trust in?

Do not allow yourself to be manipulated by the words of man through the various types of media. They will fail you and lead you down the wrong path.

Look to God for all needed wisdom and direction. God will never fail you. He has the big picture of the beginning and the end, and everything in-between when He guides you in your life.

Trust God today and see that He will never fail.

I pray today that you will know God’s word for your life; that you will be guided by the Holy Spirit; that you will trust in God alone; that you will walk the path God has for you; and that God will reveal when men try to lead you astray.

Isaiah 2:22 Stop Trusting In People

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? Isaiah 2:22

Isaiah was talking about the day of the Lord that is to come. It would be a day when God takes out His wrath upon all mankind for refusing to follow Him. Every person will attempt to flee from His presence and anger, and yet will not be able to do so. As he finishes this chapter, he tells everyone to stop believing in mere humans.

People like to trust other people all the time. There is a certain amount of trust that everyone has. One trusts that the other driver will stay on his side of the road. One trusts that the cook in a restaurant will cook the food safely.

Others will put greater trust in people, such as trusting those in government positions to fix various problems in society. Trusting that the police force will be able to stop all crime from occurring. Trusting that the economy will get better. Trusting in their job to provide all their needed finances. The list for trust goes on infinitely.

The problem with all of this trust is that it is all in mere humans. Humans can do some things, but they are not really in full control of anything, but their own personal thoughts and actions. And even those things are being led by the devil.

People try to do good, but are often caught up in selfish motives, which in turn bring about the wrong choices. They can only see in the immediate, they cannot see the future or into the hearts of others. These are things that only God can do.

God is the only one who is truly in control. Regardless of how bad things turn out, God can work it out for your good. He can turn any situation around in a moment.

You must put all of your trust in God. Trust that God will guide the other person driving down the road. Trust that God will provide for your needs when a bad situation occurs. Trust that it is God is providing the abundant blessings in your life.

Man is just vapor in light of eternity. Who will you trust today? Man or God?

I pray today that you will know God personally; that you will trust Him with all of your life; that you will not put all your trust in man; and that you will live your life for God.
