Lamentations 2:11 Weeping For The Lost

Boats on dry ground

My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within; my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed, because children and infants faint in the streets of the city. Lamentations 2:11

Death, destruction, sickness bring about weeping to every person. No one likes to see friends and family getting hurt or going through pain for any reason. As loved ones are suffering, a person weeps with them wishing he could make it better or remove the suffering.

Questions are always raised as to why someone must go through suffering and pain. Anger rises because of the suffering and pain, both in the individual going through it and those who love the person.

Jeremiah is watching his nation, his people being destroyed as they are sent into exile. The nation of Israel has been destroyed and overcome by the enemy. The people are suffering and he cannot do anything about it, but weep and mourn for them.

All over the world people are suffering and dying daily for many different things. One of the greatest sufferings is things brought on by sin. Many people suffer because of their own personal sinful choices that they had made. Choices are made that bring on pain, suffering, sickness and death.

The heart of the believer who is seeing this suffering, should be breaking. His heart needs to be like the heart of God. God does not want to see anyone suffer. It is only because of sin that there is suffering, sickness and death.

Nations, cities and communities are filled with people who do not know Jesus as Savior, who do not serve or love God. This should break the heart of the believer. Watching people die daily without God should be one of the greatest torments in the heart and life of a believer. This gives reason for the believer to be a witness for Jesus to this dying world.

As you watch the news or see what is going on around you, what are your thoughts? Do not be like many with a cold heart believing that they got what they deserve. Allow your heart to be broken as Jeremiah’s heart was.

Weep for those who are suffering because of sinful choices. Weep over the sin of people and nations that is being done and promoted.

Be a witness of who Jesus is and the life He offers to everyone. Share the news that God does want to forgive and proved an abundant life.

I pray today that you will see the world as God sees it; that your heart will break for those who do not know Jesus; that you will be a witness of who Jesus is; and that God will change lives through you.

Lamentations 1:20 Inner Turmoil

Over rough waters

See, Lord, how distressed I am! I am in torment within, and in my heart I am disturbed, for I have been most rebellious. Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is only death. Lamentation 1:20

Stress and inner turmoil are very common feelings for people all over the world. People are striving to have more, do more, experience more than is possible, which, in turn, causes more stress and inner struggling.

The majority of the world feel as if they know what is best for themselves. Yet, as they fight to get what they feel is best, they feel more empty inside and as if they have not gained anything or enough yet.

After the fall and destruction of Israel, Jeremiah was weeping over the loss. He struggled in his heart for the rebellion that he had done and Israel as a nation had done against God. He knew the level of sin that had occurred.

While the world struggles enough with inner stress and turmoil, the believer who walks in sin struggles even more. The believer knows the right that he should be doing, but does not do and God is pulling at his heart.

As the world struggles with things, they do not really know the truth as to what they should be doing, the believer knows the truth. God’s Holy Spirit is reaching down to bring the believer back into a right relationship with Him. Where there is sin, there is no real peace.

The believer walking in a sinful habit may not go into physical exile, as the Israelites did, but he will feel a distancing from God in his heart. His heart and mind will know that he is doing wrong, removing all peace.

All that needs to occur is for the believer to turn away from the sin in repentance and turn back to God. God is ready to forgiven and forget, restoring His peace.

Examine your heart and determine if your heart is disturbed and in turmoil. Are you going through an inner stress that should not be there? Is the cause of it some sin that you are holding on to and refusing to give up?

Be willing to turn away from all sin and obey God. Do not allow yourself to be like the Israelites who were rebellious and God had to put them into exile. Repent and know the love and peace of God in your life today. God is willing to restore the joy of your salvation.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will turn from all sin; that you will not rebel against God; and that you will know God’s peace in your heart and life.

Revelation 14:9-10 God’s Fury

“A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.” Revelation 14:9-10

This passage is looking into the future at a time when a beast shall rise up and rule the entire world. I do not know who or what this beast is, but it is shown in the Bible that it will be against God in every way possible.

God is now putting an end to this beast and his rule. In these verses an angel gives a warning to not worship or take on its mark. Whoever worships or takes the mark of the beast will face God’s fury.

Notice that John stated that God’s fury will be poured out in full strength. God will not hold anything back at this point. If God has the power to create the world, stars and universe, imagine how much power He has to torment anyone who worships that beast. All that power to create will go into torment.

Although I do not believe this beast is reigning on the earth today, its philosophy and characteristics are present today. Everywhere you look there are many false religions being worshipped. Everywhere you look things are being worshipped: cars, jobs, people, homes, money and more.

People dedicate their lives to getting these things or doing certain things that do not include God at all. Sin and sinful things are accepted and promoted as good. The mark of these sinful things are being taken on by using them, physically wearing a mark of them, and promoting them.

A simple example is a movie comes out that is sinful. A person goes to the movie; then buys the movie, a poster, a shirt, a hat, and a costume. These things are taking on the mark of that sinful movie…the mark of the beast.

Today you must turn from sinful ways. Do not allow yourself to take on the mark of sin. Be sealed with the mark of the Holy Spirit in your life. Keep your eyes and life on God and God alone.

I pray today that God will seal you with His Holy Spirit; that you will turn from all sin; that you will not receive the mark of sin in your life; that you will worship God and God alone; and that you will be His witness to others.
