Psalm 96:2 Sing And Tell

Worship at sunset

Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Psalm 96:2

Music is one thing that people love all around the world. People love to sing to songs. They style of songs and the words change, but the singing is still the same.

Singing a song is what brings out what is inside the heart.

Along with singing, people love to talk about what is happening. Look at how many different news channels there are available. Along with the news channels, there are radio stations, magazines, newspapers, and online sites to provide news.

The world understands the power of music and news. It is often used to change a mindset or to remind people of something. It can sway the thinking of people very easily, because it gets into the heart and mind of a person.

In this psalm the writer urges the people to sing praises to God and to proclaim His salvation. This is to be done day after day, never ending.

God is worthy of all praise, because it was He who made everything. It is God who gives every person life. It is God who gives purpose to life here on this earth.

Believers need to sing praises of His name in this world. In this process of singing, they will make a proclamation out loud for all to hear. This proclamation is about the salvation that God provides.

Believers have a relationship and a future with God, something that the world does not have. The world needs to know about this.

There is no news that is greater than a life being saved, especially when it is a life being saved for all eternity. That is ground-breaking, earth shattering news that the world needs to hear every day.

If you are a believer in Jesus and have been saved, you have something to praise God for. You also have a message to tell the world. The world needs to hear about what has happened in your life, how God has changed you.

Allow the joy of what God has done in you and for you to bubble up out of your heart through your voice. Sing praises daily to God for what He has done, then make a public proclamation about it. Do not hide it and be ashamed, but be glad and share it.

The world needs what you have. Will you let them know?

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus provides; that you will sing praises to God all the time; that you will tell the world about the salvation He provides; and that the world will know of Jesus through you.

Mark 5:19 Go And Tell

“Jesus did not let him, but said, Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” Mark 5:19

Jesus had just cast many demons out of a man. He had been possessed for many years and could not do anything normal. When Jesus cast the demons out, the man was grateful and wanted to go with Jesus. Jesus told him to go home and tell everyone what had happened.

The Lord had had mercy on the man in casting out the demons. The man had originally allowed the demons in at some point in his life. God did not have to cast out the demons. In fact, the man never asked that they be cast out. It was the choice of Jesus.

Jesus showed His love and mercy in helping the man out.

How does this apply to us today? God has shown mercy on you in your life. You need to tell others about that mercy.

Often, however, people like to complain about the situations in their life. They feel that God is against them and not showing mercy. According to many people, not having any problems in life would be a sign of God’s mercy. If they just had a little more money, or a different car, or house, or job, then they would accept it as God’s mercy on them.

You do not deserve anything in this life, including life itself. Yet, that is what God has given you in His love and mercy.

Realize all the blessings you do have. Don’t focus on what you do not have.

Notice how much God has had mercy on you. Yes, you have problems in your life, but they could be a lot worse. Is your car broke down? Be thankful, many do not even have one to break down. Is your house leaking? Be thankful, many do not have a place to sleep? Do you have a broke leg? Be thankful, the whole leg could be gone. Look at many other things also in your life.

Now go and tell others, how much God has had mercy on you. Tell others how much God loves you and cares for you.

I pray today that you will realize the blessings God has given you; that you will realize the mercy God has given you; that you will joyfully tell others of these blessings and mercies; and that God will use you to build His kingdom.

2 Peter 1:12 Remember

“So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.” 2 Peter 1:12

Peter had just finished telling the people about their calling in God, reminding them of their salvation in Jesus. Now he tells them that he will always remind them of these things.

Why would he do the constant reminders? Most people will forget what they are told soon after being told it. The world even knows this. Look at how many commercials you see selling a type of car or soda drink. If you watch TV all day, you will most likely see the same commercials over and over many times. At times the commercial may change, but the product is the same. This is because people forget.

In the Old Testament the people were told to talk about God when they get up, throughout the day and before going to bed at night. This is so they would not forget who God is and what He has done for them.

Even though it may sometimes get redundant people still need to be reminded daily of what God can do and has already done. Can you remember absolutely everything God has done for you? Or what God did in the Bible? No one can remember all of those things. Everyone needs to be reminded.

How does being reminded help you? It will build your trust in God after seeing everything He has already done. It continues to encourage you. Do not allow yourself to forget the things of God. Read God’s Word daily to learn of Him. Tell others what you know of God and what He has done for you. Keep reminding yourself and others of what He has done.

I pray that God will help you remember all that He has done for you; that God will open doors for you to share with others what He has done and is doing; that God will encourage you in your walk with Him daily; and that God will continue to build you up more and more like Jesus every day.
